Annual Back to School Giveaway by the “Twin Angels” benefits hundreds of families

More than a thousand people showed up for the 8th annual Back to School Giveaway event hosted by Sheila Hill and Sharon Barnet, affectionately called the “Twin Angels” by the Athens community, and Leta Davis on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in Athens. The giveaway included free school supplies, uniforms, shoes and hygiene products, all donated from nearby counties and states, and as far as California. This year’s event was the largest yet. “It’s overwhelming,” Sheila Hill said. “The kids are so happy, smiling at having good shoes,” continued her twin sister Sharon Barnet, “It feels good.”
